Honey & Bee Products

Gifts of the Hive,
From the Heart of the North

At Souk Shamali, our honey and bee products come directly from cooperative beekeepers nestled in the heart of the Rif mountains. Raw wildflower honey, thyme honey, and forest honey — each jar reflects the biodiversity of Morocco's northern landscape. We also carry propolis, beeswax, royal jelly, and bee pollen, all harvested with traditional methods that preserve their natural potency.

Medicinal & Aromatic Herbs

The Mountain's Bounty,
Nature's Treasures

The Rif mountains are home to some of Morocco's richest botanical heritage. Through Souk Shamali, our partner cooperatives hand-harvest and dry lavender, thyme, rosemary, oregano, and dozens of medicinal plants used for generations in Moroccan homes. Whether brewed as tea, used in cooking, or applied in traditional beauty rituals, these botanicals carry the ancestral knowledge of the communities who cultivate them — wild, pure, and completely natural.

Solving the Marketing Problem

One of the biggest obstacles cooperatives faced was finding suitable spaces to display and sell their products, as well as accessing national distribution networks. Souk Shamali directly tackles this by providing a permanent, year-round exhibition and sales platform, giving cooperatives a real and stable commercial presence they previously lacked.

Nouara Ain El Hajar

Founded in April 2011 in the commune of Ben Karish, Tetouan province — one of the leading agricultural cooperatives of the region, and a proud partner of Souk Shamali.

Nouara Ain El Hajar specializes in the cultivation and valorization of medicinal and aromatic plants native to northern Morocco — mint, thyme, oregano, rosemary, marjoram, and more. From these plants, the cooperative produces a full range of natural goods: essential oils, floral waters, aromatic distillates, and personal care products formulated entirely from natural ingredients. Their food range includes spices, aromatic herbs, teas, and oils — each one a direct expression of what the land around Ben Karish naturally offers.

What makes Nouara Ain El Hajar stand out is not just what they produce, but how seriously they take every step of the process — from cultivation to extraction to the final product that reaches your hands. Over more than a decade of work, they have built a reputation grounded in quality, authenticity, and deep knowledge of the plants they work with. At Souk Shamali, their products are among those we carefully selected — because they represent exactly what this marketplace was built to support.

Our Commitment

How Souk Shamali Empowers Rural Women

What transforms lives, revives traditions, and builds lasting economic independence for cooperative women across northern Morocco.

01Access & Visibility

A Gateway Out of Isolation

Rural women in northern Morocco often produce high-quality goods but have no accessible channel to reach buyers. Souk Shamali bridges that gap by bringing their products into an urban, high-visibility marketplace — connecting them to city residents and tourists without requiring them to leave their communities.

02Heritage & Livelihood

Turning Traditional Skills into Income

Many cooperative women possess generations-old knowledge in crafting products like argan oil, medicinal herbs, honey, and traditional textiles. Souk Shamali transforms these inherited skills into a sustainable source of income by giving them a professional platform to sell what they already know how to make.

03Training & Capacity Building

Growing Skills, Growing Futures

Beyond just selling, Souk Shamali supports cooperative women through training sessions and supervisory workshops held in a fully equipped meeting room. This capacity-building program helps them improve the quality of their products, exchange experiences with one another, and develop the skills needed to sustain and grow their businesses over the long term.

04Empowerment & Growth

Strengthening Social Standing in Communities

By becoming active economic contributors through a recognized and respected platform, cooperative women gain not just financial independence but also greater confidence and social standing within their families and communities. The training and capacity-building programs offered at Souk Shamali further reinforce this by equipping them with modern business and marketing skills.
