In partnership with the Faiz Association, Souk Chamali in Tetouan concluded a training course to support rural women and honored the Personalities of the Year.

Yesterday, Wednesday, January 7, Souk Chamali in Tetouan concluded a specialized training course dedicated to supporting rural women and enhancing the capacity of women’s cooperatives to adapt to climate fluctuations. This initiative is part of a series of efforts aimed at advancing the local solidarity economy.
In a statement to Presse Tetouan, Hafida Ait Aissa, manager of Souk Chamali, explained that the training focused on providing participants with practical mechanisms to create alternative projects and solutions capable of facing the impacts of climate change, thereby ensuring the sustainability of income-generating activities in rural areas.
Ait Aissa confirmed that the initiative saw participation from several rural cooperatives, facilitating an exchange of experiences and the introduction of practical approaches to cope with environmental constraints. She noted that Souk Chamali is committed to playing a supportive role for women’s cooperatives and providing a space to add value to their local products.
She added that the conclusion of the course coincided with special discounts for customers and tasting areas to encourage interest in regional products. Furthermore, she announced that the "Tasting Week" at Souk Chamali will continue over the coming days, allowing visitors to discover the quality and diversity of the participating cooperatives' goods.
In a related context, Souk Chamali—in partnership with the Faiz Charitable Association and the Provincial Council of Tetouan—hosted a ceremony to crown the "Personalities of the Year 2025." The event aims to establish a culture of gratitude and recognition for Moroccan talents who have made distinguished marks both domestically and abroad.
The organizing committee unanimously selected three prominent figures as symbols of inspiration:
Ahmed Aboutaleb: The former Mayor of Rotterdam and a prominent candidate for the Dutch Premiership, cited as an example of political and diplomatic success and an influential figure in the European scene.
Dr. Mohamed Deira: A renowned cardiologist and heart surgeon, honored in recognition of his continuous humanitarian contributions and charitable initiatives that have alleviated the suffering of patients for many years.
Najat Vallaud-Belkacem: The former French Minister of Higher Education, who embodies the successful trajectory of Moroccan women on the international stage and has demonstrated high competence in governance and political action.
This diverse program reflects Souk Chamali’s dedication to combining vocational training, economic support, and the promotion of local products with the celebration of national talents, ultimately enhancing the city’s profile and serving local development causes.
