Souk Shamali was built on a conviction — that cooperative women in northern Morocco deserve a platform worthy of what they produce. An idea that became a place, and a place that became a movement.
This Is Where the Story Began
We are the first permanent local marketplace dedicated entirely to cooperative products in northern Morocco. Born from the third phase of the National Initiative for Human Development, we opened our doors in June 2022 with a clear mission: give cooperative women — who had spent years producing without a structured outlet — a real, stable, and visible commercial presence. We started with 28 cooperatives and 320 products. Today we bring together 63 partner cooperatives and over 1,575 products spanning honey, argan oil, olive oil, saffron, medicinal herbs, traditional crafts, ceramics, and more.
But Souk Shamali is not only a place to sell. Our space includes a fully equipped training room where cooperatives receive capacity-building workshops throughout the year — helping women modernize their production, improve quality standards, and exchange experience with one another. We also house a café and restaurant that prepares exclusively bio meals using the very products sold in our market, so that the commitment to natural and authentic living runs through everything we do.
This market is a dream that the cooperatives brought to life. It gives the added value that cooperative products deserve — and opens a real window for women to show what they make.
More Than a Market
Souk Shamali is a year-round exhibition and sales platform for cooperative products — honey, argan oil, olive oil, saffron, medicinal herbs, traditional crafts, ceramics, and more. Every product on our shelves comes from a cooperative that has been carefully selected for quality and authenticity.
Beyond commerce, the space includes a fully equipped training room where cooperatives receive capacity-building workshops, and a café and restaurant that serves exclusively bio meals prepared from the products sold in the market itself.
Nothing Enters Without Our Approval
Before any product reaches our shelves, it goes through a rigorous selection process. We evaluate every cooperative and every product against strict quality and safety standards — checking authenticity, production methods, and compliance with health regulations. Only products that meet our criteria earn a place in Souk Shamali.
